There is no news on salaries but substantial budget-cutting
measures have been proposed. The
College of Education is moving to the Cascades Campus-Bend. There will be
elimination or programs and degrees that are not self-sustaining. Some of the colleges and departments
will be merged. PSU
PSU-AAUP, the union for full-time faculty and academic professionals at PSU, has reached a tentative agreement with the administration. Negotiators agreed to salary reductions ranging from 1.15 percent to 4.38 percent, amounting to three to 12 unpaid leave days a year, depending on current salaries, after a 16-hour bargaining session that ended early Saturday morning, September 19th. The language about salary cuts is contained in a Letter of Agreement that expires at the end of the 2009-2011 Collective Bargaining Agreement. PSU is proposing a 4.23% pay cut for adjuncts. AFT at PSU (the union representing the adjuncts) says these cuts are unacceptable.
