A new AFT report finds that teacher development and evaluation systems that are co-designed by teachers; based on agreed-upon teaching standards; assessed in multiple ways; and supported with ongoing training for teachers and evaluators alike are an effective strategy for teachers, administrators and students.

Local 111 organizes more than 111!

Portland Federation of School Professionals', local 111, organizing campaign reached an all-time high last week when their new member numbers hit one hundred and eleven - or 111! The same as their Local's number!

They quickly passed that goal, and are now at 118!

They have never had so many new members. All of this has been accomplished in just  six months.  Their hard work is certainly paying off.

Pushing forward to fight rising student debt

The AFT has joined a broad coalition of organizations, from its sister unions to Student Veterans of America, from the National Young Farmers Coalition to Jobs with Justice and the Center for American Progress, to demand that elected officials take action and address college affordability within the next six months.
