The Early Learning Alliance/AFT-Oregon is a unique, statewide coalition of child care center directors, owners, teachers and staff as well as parents and community leaders who have joined in a mission to improve the quality of early childhood education in Oregon.

Early educators statewide are coming together to raise awareness by creating a quilt representing our dedication to children and families.

Recently, ELA member, Carmen Ellis, sat down with President Rives to learn more about the Oregon Education Investment Board’s plans and what they might mean for our Early Learning Alliance (ELA) members and early childhood educators statewide.  It was a lively discussion between education professionals from both ends of the 0-20 spectrum, a spectrum that is the focus of our state’s plans.  The following are excerpts from that conversation.

If you care about the wages, benefits, quality, and working conditions of the people who take care of our youngest children, then join the Early Learning Alliance (ELA). Your membership will help in the campaign to make sure center-based child care jobs are stable living wage jobs with good benefits, and professional development opportunities and rewards.
