Joe Lowndes was appointed as an AFT-Oregon Vice-President. Lowndes is an associate professor in the Political Science department at the University of Oregon, and member of AFT-Oregon’s newest Local 3209, United Academics, University of Oregon (UAUO).
Lowndes served on the organizing team during the representation campaign, and was elected to the first Local executive board as Chair of the State and Higher Education Issues Committee.Both were appointed by the AFT-Oregon Executive Council at its April 4, 2014, at Sunriver Resort in Sunriver, Oregon.
