In MESD Appointment, Peterson Helps Make History

Denyse Peterson, PCCFCE Local 3922 Member and VP of Political Action, and a Cascade campus classified employee in the Liberal Arts and Pre-College Programs Division, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Multnomah Education Service District. With Ms. Peterson's appointment, the MESD board now consists of all female directors, a first in MESD history.

Denyse was born and raised in Portland, Oregon and graduated from Jefferson High School. Her background includes serving as staff for Senator Avel Gordly during the 72nd and 73rd sessions of the Oregon State Legislature. In addition to her broad political experience, Denyse has been a lifelong active volunteer with faith based and community organizations.

Ms. Peterson joins several current or former AFT-Oregon members or staff who serve as elected officials, including Senators Michael Dembrow and Rob Wagner, Hillsboro City Councilor Olivia Alcaire, and Corvallis School Board Director Sami Al-AbdRabbuh. She is a 2018 graduate of the Oregon Labor Candidate School.
