AFT-Oregon Endorses Rob Wagner for Senate District 19

Today the American Federation of Teachers-Oregon (AFT-Oregon) endorsed Rob Wagner for the potential replacement of State Senator Richard Devlin in Senate District 19, should Senator Devlin step down from the seat. As one of the largest affiliates of the Oregon AFL-CIO, AFT-Oregon represents approximately 15,000 education professionals from pre-K through postsecondary. Hundreds of AFT-Oregon members live in Lake Oswego, West Linn, Tualatin and Southwest Portland.

Jaime Rodriguez, AFT-Oregon VP for Political Action and a career specialist at PCC’s Workforce Development Department, said, "Rob Wagner has been on the front lines fighting for education funding and supports for students. This year, when our DREAMER students have been under attack, Rob has been a leader in finding resources and supports they urgently need.”

“Senator Devlin has repeatedly earned our support and we are extremely thankful for his service. Rob has been a champion for education his entire career,” said David Rives, AFT-Oregon President. “If Senator Devlin is appointed and leaves his seat, our members are confident Rob is the best choice to replace him. We know he will bring his passion for education to Salem."
