It’s time to start preparing for AFT-Oregon’s 2017 Annual Convention, which will be held at the Portland Hilton April 21-23, 2017!
This year, we are streamlining the process of preparing for convention and switching to online registration and consolidating some forms.
Local presidents: You should have received an email from Leah Leach, Administrative Office Coordinator, detailing your delegate strength and providing a link to submit your delegates and alternates. In addition, you should have been sent a second email to forward to your delegates and alternates, that will allow them to register themselves online. Both these emails were sent on January 20, 2017. If you haven’t received these two emails, please contact Leah at leahl@aft-oregon.org immediately.
Delegate strengths for locals are calculated according to Article IX, Section 2 of the AFT-Oregon Constitution and Bylaws.
If you are a delegate or alternate, and have not yet registered, register online here.

Delegate/Alternate Certified Lists
Local presidents: The link to submit delegate/alternate lists was sent to you on January 20, 2017. This is an individualized link that is specific to your local and should not be shared outside your local. Please use the link in the email and fill out the form by March 22, 2017. This year, your local may also request a display table using this form.
Review the guidelines for conducting local union elections here.
Credential Cards
Previously, we asked delegates and alternates to fill out their own credential cards and get them signed by two local officers to bring to convention.
New this year: AFT-Oregon will be printing all delegate and alternate credential cards with names pre-filled and sending them in bulk to local presidents in the first half of April. Signatures are no longer required on the credential cards.
Make sure your delegates and alternates receive their credential cards before convention—they must present their cards on check-in.
Registrations
The link to register for convention can be used by all attendees and should be forwarded by local presidents to their delegates and alternates. All registrations are due by March 22, 2017.
If you are attending as a delegate and alternate and have not yet registered, register online here.
Payment
Registration is $75 for delegates and alternates. Additional guests for Saturday night's awards banquet are $55 each. Make checks out to “AFT-Oregon” and mail by March 22, 2017 to:

- Both the present wording and the proposed changes
- Two local officer signatures, which should be visible in the PDF

Requesting a Display Table
This year, to reduce the number of forms everyone needs to fill out, the option to request a display table is included as an optional checkbox on the delegate/alternate list form (see “Delegate/Alternate Certified Lists,” above).
Mailed Forms
If mailing by post, any forms must be postmarked by the deadlines listed above (see "Deadline Overview").
