Administrative Specialist -  American Federation of Teachers-Oregon

REPORTS TO: President/Executive Director

JOB DESCRIPTION:

This is an administrative position that is based in the office with occasional travel to the
organization’s events. This is a full-time position that is responsible, as assigned, for the day to
day operations of the office including financial data input, event planning, Executive Council
support, vendor point of contact, booking travel and ordering office supplies. Experience in a
high-level administrative position is preferred, and union experience is a plus.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Interest in social and economic justice and public education
  • Has an insured vehicle and valid driver’s license
  • Able to work with a variety of individuals
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
  • 3-5 years experience in administrative positions

SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Input financial data into Excel and various databases
  • Process bank deposits
  • Plan and coordinate AFT-Oregon conferences and events including logistics, accommodations, meals and negotiating contracts
  • Coordinate travel arrangements for staff and Executive Council
  • Respond to member and leader inquiries
  • Support and attend Executive Council meetings; prepare meeting materials and assist with note taking
  • Point of contact for vendors; maintain accounts, schedule maintenance for building and office equipment
  • Maintain State Federation Leader contact list
  • Maintain office filing system and inventory of office supplies
  • Other duties as assigned

SALARY AND BENEFITS:

In accordance with the UEG/AFT-Oregon Collective Bargaining Agreement, the starting salary range will be between $53K to $60K approximately* plus a competitive benefits package.
* Subject to change with new CBA
